The “Osteopaths in Practice – Engage, Grow, Succeed!” symposium was a great success in Christchurch in August 2018. The day was filled with engaging speakers, covering a range of topics to help delegates succeed in business, and learn how to navigate and take advantage of the digital age we now live in. The symposium also saw the launch of the Osteopathy Research Connect – New Zealand (ORC-NZ) project, the start of a practice-based research network to support our profession as we look to the future. The Osteopathic Children’s Foundation was also introduced, the first child-centred osteopathic charity in Aotearoa. We look forward to seeing this foundation and its community grow.
Comments from the delegates' feedback forms included:
"Good range of presentations. Really enjoyed the physical break of Feldenkrais intro."
"Well organised. Good vibe. Informative."
"Great presenters, practical and useful."
The 2018 AGM was a chance for members to hear from the Executive Committee about all that’s been achieved since the 2017 AGM in Auckland (which was quite a lot!), as well as have their say in the direction of the association's activities and goals for the next year. We would encourage all members to attend the future AGMs and engage with the advancement of our profession.
We would like to extend our gratitude to our major sponsor Crombie Lockwood, and to the Ara Institute of Canterbury for hosting us. We wish you and your students all the best in the coming years of osteopathic education.
Thank you also to everyone who attended the 2018 symposium and AGM, and we look forward to seeing you at our next big conference in Rotorua!
