ONZ Board Confirms Executive Leadership Transition

26 July 2026

The Board of Osteopaths New Zealand Incorporated has confirmed ONZ’s transition to an executive leadership model and appointed the Association’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer. Further information, including FAQs, a transition timeline and the recording of the recent member information session, is available below and on the ONZ website.

Over recent months, the Board has been considering how Osteopaths New Zealand can best support the profession as the Association continues to grow in its advocacy, professional representation, education, research, partnerships and member services.

Following strategic planning, member engagement and the completion of a formal recruitment process, the Board has confirmed ONZ’s transition to an executive leadership model through the establishment of its first Chief Executive Officer position.

Thank you to everyone who attended the recent member information session. The Board carefully considered the feedback received before proceeding with recruitment for the inaugural Chief Executive Officer role.

Following a formal recruitment process, the Board resolved at its meeting on Friday 24 July 2026 to appoint Angela Young as ONZ’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer, subject to final contractual arrangements. Angela is expected to commence on 31 August 2026.

To maintain a clear separation between governance and executive management, Angela stepped down as Chair immediately following the Board’s resolution, and Morgan Hancock has been appointed Interim Chair to lead the Board through the transition.

The Board has also commenced the transition from the current management services arrangement with ONZL. The Board sincerely thanks ONZL for the professionalism, expertise and commitment they have provided to the Association over many years and looks forward to working collaboratively with them throughout the transition.

For members, services will continue as normal throughout the transition. ONZ’s advocacy, education, research, professional development, events and member services will continue uninterrupted while the transition is completed over the coming weeks.

This is an important milestone in ONZ’s evolution, and the Board is confident the new operating model will strengthen the Association’s ability to serve members into the future.
